Christopher Dews - President

Christopher Dews founded Dews & Associates, LLC in October 2025, drawing on experience in both nonprofit policy advocacy and private-sector government relations. Prior to launching the firm, he served as Assistant Vice President at Cornerstone Government Affairs, where he represented businesses, local governments, nonprofit organizations, and national companies before the Maryland General Assembly and Executive Branch.

Throughout his career, Christopher has helped advance legislation that secured millions of dollars in capital and operating funding, expanded workforce opportunities, strengthened criminal justice reform, and created greater economic opportunity for Maryland families. In recognition of his leadership, he received an award from the Legislative Black Caucus for advancing legislation that eliminated barriers to employment for returning citizens.

Before entering private practice, Christopher served as Senior Policy Advocate for the Job Opportunities Task Force (JOTF), where he led legislative initiatives to expand access to workforce training, occupational licensing, housing, childcare, transportation, and criminal record expungement. Earlier in his career, he managed workforce development programs at Civic Works' Center for Sustainable Careers, helping unemployed, underemployed, and formerly incarcerated Baltimore City residents prepare for careers in the skilled trades and environmental construction.

Today, Christopher serves as the lead advocate for Maryland's Expungement Coalition, working alongside legislators, state agencies, businesses, and community organizations to advance policies that expand opportunity through criminal record reform. He played a leading role in the passage of the Expungement Reform Act of 2025 and continues to advise clients on legislative strategy, operating and capital budget advocacy, coalition building, and government relations throughout Maryland.
